New Year, New Hospitality: Welcoming with Heart and a Little Bit of Pretty

As we step into the New Year, there's a special joy in welcoming others with a spirit of hospitality. Whether it's friends, family, or even strangers, opening our homes and hearts to others is a beautiful reflection of God's love for us. I truly believe in offering a space that's both welcoming and warm, where people feel seen, heard, and cherished. Hospitality, at its core, is a beautiful way to reflect God's love for us. Just as He welcomes us into His embrace with grace and compassion, we have the chance to extend that same kindness to those around us.

Now, I’ll be honest—while I deeply value the heart of biblical hospitality, I also can’t deny that I love making things pretty. There’s just something about creating an environment that feels inviting, warm, and aesthetically pleasing that adds an extra layer of joy to the experience. Whether it’s a beautifully set table, a few thoughtfully placed candles, or a space that’s arranged with care, those little details can make all the difference in how someone feels when they walk through the door. Hospitality doesn't require perfection, but there’s something delightful in taking the time to create an environment that’s inviting to the soul.

But here’s the thing: I don’t believe hospitality needs to be perfect to be meaningful.

In fact, perfection often gets in the way of what’s truly important—our hearts and our intentions. Yes, I absolutely appreciate the beauty that comes from creating a space that feels cozy and inviting, but I also recognize that true hospitality isn’t about flawless execution or extravagant decor. It’s about making others feel seen, heard, and loved. It's the act of serving others with joy, whether that’s through a delicious meal, a simple conversation, or a space that makes them feel at home.

As we approach this new season, may we embrace the balance of offering our hearts in hospitality while also allowing ourselves to find joy in creating spaces that feel both lovely and peaceful. God welcomes us with open arms and His love is perfect, but in our imperfect world, we have the beautiful opportunity to add our own touch, making His love even more tangible. Here's to a year of welcoming others with warmth, beauty, and grace—without the pressure of perfection!
